WhyGetAMillWhy get a Mill ?I spent a lot of time considering getting a very rigid CNC router (spindle maybe) with rails and ballscrews instead of a mill. I finally decided that I just needed the higher accuracy/precision of a mill and sure enough, here's the first necessary part I've made. It has a 5+mm through-hole and the top cylinder is 6mm in diameter, so less than 1/2mm thickness - and it came out great first time. It's possible a CNC router could do this but it would have to have a spindle and be amazingly rigid. I'm skeptical. |
